Happy Earth Day!

Earth Day 2010 marks the 40th anniversary of an effort begun in the U.S. to raise awareness of environmental issues.

Just about everyone can point to something they have changed in the past few years to use less energy (energy efficient light bulbs) or reduce consumption (take your own bags to the grocery store).

AICR suggests this earth day you consider taking a simple step to not only help the planet, but also lower your risk for cancer.

Following AICR’s New American Plate concept will help you achieve a healthier diet with more fruits, vegetables and whole grains and less meat. It’s a diet healthy for the earth because eating less meat means fewer greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere through livestock production.

Read how you can use proportion and portion on your plate to improve your health and the health of the planet.

Let us know how you are celebrating Earth Day 2010.
